Description
The renowned functionalist architect designed the VL 56 pendant light for Folkets Hus in Vesterbro, Copenhagen. The building was originally designed and constructed for the Danish labor movement and opened in 1956; it now serves as a concert hall known as Vega. This building is a work of art in itself, meaning that the architect designed everything within it, from door handles, stairs, and power outlets to furniture and lighting. The VL 56 pendant light is one of the fixtures designed for Vega and still hangs above the wooden bar near the concert hall. Both chrome and brass variants were reintroduced in 2023 with slight adjustments and improvements.
